Academic Development Committee (Long Island)

The Long Island Campus' Academic Development Committee advises and guides students who have not met the academic standards of the College.

Functions

  • to consult with major department chairs prior to the meeting regarding students who have not met academic requirements

  • to provide such students with faculty counselors

  • to recommend changes in programs where advisable

  • to establish minimum criteria for continued matriculation

  • to recommend to the academic dean the withdrawal of students who fail to meet the minimum standards of the College

  • to acknowledge students who have met previous Academic Development Committee recommendations

  • to communicate (in writing) the decision of the committee to students, department chairs and appropriate administrative offices

Membership

  • twelve to 16 faculty members appointed by the dean from volunteers

  • academic dean, ex-officio

  • registrar, ex-officio

  • director of career development, wellness and disability services, ex-officio

  • director of admissions

  • assistant to the dean for academic services

Chair: elected by the committee
Term:
three years for faculty members
