Assistant Director of Financial Aid
Campus:
St. Joseph’s College seeks an Assistant Director of Financial Aid for its Long Island Campus to assist with all aspects of financial aid administration and counseling. Under the supervision of the Director of Financial Aid and the Associate Director, the Assistant Director will provide effective leadership and a high level of customer service as well as handling a regular case load of approximately 600 students. In addition, the Assistant Director will be responsible for representing the college at various on and off campus events, ensuring compliance with federal and state financial aid programs and assisting the Director of Financial Aid in policy review.
Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations in awarding financial aid and meeting record keeping requirement.
Administer Federal, State and Institutional aid programs.
Counsel students and families regarding financial aid programs and financing options.
Verify and package financial aid awards.
Participate in various Enrollment Management activities such as open houses, admitted student events and information sessions.
Participate in the review and development of policies and procedures.
Mentor and train other FA staff.
Monitor a specific aid program.
Other duties as assigned by the Director.
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of relevant financial aid experience. The candidate must be committed to providing the highest level of customer service to our students and be available to work a flexible schedule, including some weekend and evening hours. Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills are required along with the ability to multi-task and effectively interact with a diverse student population and staff. Computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet software knowledge are necessary and experience with Datatel Colleague and Crystal reports strongly preferred.

Job Duties: The College seeks qualified applicants for a full-time position of Institutional Research Analyst in the Office of Institutional Research and Planning. This position will be responsible for assisting IR database development, management and data analysis and providing routine and expeditious information to facilitate the needs of external and internal college constituents. The position will be located at Brooklyn campus. In particular, the responsibilities of the Institutional Research Analyst include:
Assisting in validating the data files used for various IR reporting through using the campus data system , working with other operating offices and developing the data documentation
Extracting and managing data files from the college data system, i.e. Datatel
Extracting and managing data from external databases, e.g. IPEDS, etc.
Assisting in the reporting to external agents at state and federal level and facilitate the data needs of annual surveys
Participating in the national and college-wide survey administration, data analysis and results reporting including performing data transformations and statistical analysis and report composition
Required Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university
Proficiency in MS Office suite (2007) and extensive knowledge and skills in manipulating data files and performing statistical analysis
One year experience in relational database management and development, e.g. Crystal Reports (versions 8.5 and 2008) and software relevant to data management and analysis
Be strongly analytical, problem-solving oriented and have excellent knowledge of research methods
Be committed to data integrity and quality, very organized and strong in attention to details
Have 1-3 years of experience in higher education institutions and be willing to learn and update the knowledge of institutional research and higher education related studies
Have strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in respective fields
Advanced knowledge in SQL, VBA, SAS or SPSS
Willingness to seek collaboration with other offices including information technology and services, registration, enrollment management and academic departments.
