There are many career paths that a degree in biology from SJC can lead to. With a faculty of career biologists dedicated to the academic and professional development of each student, our program boasts a high acceptance rate into medical and other professional schools.
SJC's biology students have enjoyed many research opportunities, including studying field ecology at certified stations abroad as well as researching the pollution, over-harvesting and the decline of eelgrass in Great Patchogue Lake. But if research doesn’t suit you, then pursue a career in teaching or the medical fields.
Our adolescence education biology students are a desired commodity and are frequently recruited by the education community. This truly is a reflection of the faculty, facilities and institutional commitment that make St. Joseph’s College unique in biology and the pre-health professions.
Along with the biology major, SJC offers a six-year articulated podiatric medicine program in conjunction with New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Biology is also a common major for our adolescence education students.
