Students who attain a minimum grade of C in BIO 150 and BIO 151 may elect biology as a major. To remain in the program, students must maintain a minimum grade of C in each required major course.
Students seeking the B.S. in Biology are required to take 36 credits in biology and must take at least two 400-level courses in addition to BIO 480. Adolescence education (secondary education) students must take at least one 400-level course in addition to BIO 480. Two 400-level courses are needed to earn a B.S.
Biology courses and courses required for the biology major must be taken at St. Joseph’s College. Any courses taken at other institutions must receive prior departmental approval to be offered for the major.

The senior research requirement may be satisfied during the summer after completing BIO 380 by participating in a nationally recognized competitive research program for undergraduates. Acceptance criteria can be found in the course catalog.
