HTM Career Opportunities

The Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) affords students a wide array of employment opportunities …

According to recent surveys and research, students graduating with a degree in hospitality and tourism management have opportunities for employment within a variety of industries.

The Tourism industry offers a vast array of employment opportunities. Students may seek employment in areas such as travel and tourism bureaus, cruise lines, ecotourism agencies, bus and airlines, and guide services.

The diverse Hotel industry provides a myriad of employment opportunities in overall facilities management, hotel and resort management, convention and event planning, theme parks, golf courses and a variety of gated residential communities that include resort-style environments.

The Health Care Hospitality industry is unique and focuses on common interests between the areas of health care and hospitality. NYS hospitals rank 49th in customer satisfaction and as such, the healthcare system is faced with several challenges that will need to be solved. In meeting these challenges, opportunities for employment in hospital settings and community-based clinical settings that focus on customer and stakeholder satisfaction, and the overall planning and management of these facilities has become a growing industry. In addition, with the increase in medical travel and tourism, and hotels as transitional care partners, has prompted the health care industry to seek leaders with a strong background in hospitality.

Our liberal arts courses, co-curricular programs and required internship course will also provide students with opportunities to gain exposure to the broad variety of industries within the field, and an appreciation for the rich culture and resources associated with our local and global communities.

St. Joseph’s College faculty and Institute for Hospitality and Tourism Management (IHTM) will also provide students with opportunities to participate in seminars and engage in conversations with professionals and leaders within the industry.
