Child Study

As St. Joseph’s College’s hallmark program, the B.A. in Child Study provides a quality education that is consistently ranked among the best teaching programs in the New York Metropolitan area.

The program prepares students for graduate work in literacy, early childhood education, special education, bilingual education and administration, as well as other disciplines such as speech pathology, psychology and guidance counseling. Child study graduates are in constant demand in tri-state area schools as well as for out-of-state positions.

Students at the Brooklyn Campus utilize the Dillon Child Study Center, one of the first laboratory preschools on the East Coast. The Dillon Center serves more than 100 children, with five classes for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten-aged children and an inclusive class of both typically and atypically developing children.
