Speech (Communication Studies)

Effective communication skills are essential to personal, academic and professional success and the Department of Communication Studies hones those skills to build confidence and assurance in its majors.

St. Joseph’s College’s B.A. in Speech takes its graduates to many destinations, often leading to a diverse collection of careers. Counselors, public relations specialists and radio disc jockeys are just a few examples. Graduate study in speech and language pathology is the popular choice.

The department also offers several theater courses, where Long Island Campus students utilize the Clare Rose Playhouse. In Brooklyn, a theatre minor is offered and it is enhanced by the campus’ close proximity to the Brooklyn Academy of Music, as well as to Broadway and off-Broadway offerings.
