History Major

History majors must complete 38 credits in the department, including 6 credits in both American and European history, 3 credits in global history and 15 elective credits. Nine of the elective credits must be taken at the 300 level. In addition to these requirements, all students must complete:

  • HIS 410 Seminar in Historical Methodology

  • HIS 411 Senior Thesis

  • HIS 422 Historiography

Core Curriculum

All 100- and 200-level courses and, with advisement from the department, students are encouraged to select various courses numbered 300-349.
