Surveying American, European and global history builds the foundation. Advanced courses in Colonial America and medieval Europe enhance your knowledge. Specialized seminars in a multitude of topics then complete the comprehensive history education that St. Joseph’s College offers.

Evidenced in the several grants, fellowships and assistantships for graduate and professional school that our graduates have obtained, our B.A. in History not only provides students with a broader understanding of the world, but offers many career and graduate study opportunities.

Many students choose to combine the history major with our adolescence education or child study programs, which prepare for teaching at the elementary and secondary levels. A history degree can lead to careers in foreign service, law enforcement, journalism, museum work, banking and business, government and civil service, the military and editing scholarly journals and professional research.
