All students will take eight courses in the humanities; at least six
of the following subject areas must be represented:
Art
Classical Studies – history, literature, philosophy of Greece and Rome
English or American literature
Modern language and literature – Arabic, French, Italian, Russian, or Spanish, in the original or in translation
Music
Philosophy
Religious Studies
Speech Communication
Students who take one of the prescribed core courses in Art and/or Music may also offer one studio course in art and/or music toward the core curriculum. The following course may be offered toward the general humanities requirement of the core curriculum (but not toward the required six areas): Dance 101 – Modern Dance.
