St. Joseph’s College has partnered with Polytechnic University to form an educational collaboration known as Knowledge Workers Educational Alliance (KWEA). This program produces highly qualified personnel who, in five years, complete their bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s College and an M.S. in Computer Science from Polytechnic Institute at New York University. This program’s graduates have broad, interdisciplinary backgrounds in the liberal arts and specialized knowledge from the master’s curriculum.
Who is eligible for this program?
Students in any undergraduate discipline may enter the program as freshmen or transfers.
What courses must I complete at St. Joseph’s?
A student must complete the following courses as an undergraduate:
Calculus I and II
COM 152 Computer Programming*
COM 210 Algorithms and Data Structures*
COM 249 Computer Organization and Assembly Language*
COM 310 Operating Systems*
one year of science (physics, biology, chemistry), possibly combined
* Minimum grade of B
Additionally, in the summer prior to senior year, students take two graduate-level computer science courses (6 credits) at Polytechnic Institute at New York University.
After graduation from St. Joseph’s College, what courses must I take from Polytechnic institute at NYU?
The summer after graduation from St. Joseph’s, students take two graduate-level courses (6 credits) at Polytechnic, followed by 12 credits in both the fall and spring semesters. Students will take 12 total graduate courses (36 credits). Graduate-level courses must be completed with a B average.
