Military Testimonials

Active Duty

“I am currently enrolled in the B.S. in Organizational Management online program and it has allowed me the opportunity to further my education along with my family and active duty military obligations.  Without the option of online, I would never be able to continue with my schooling. St. Joseph's is very military friendly and the faculty and advisers are all very flexible and understanding of my responsibilities outside of school. I even earned 38 transfer credits from my military experience and training. Since the school offers a reduced tuition rate of $250 per credit to active duty members, my Tuition Assistance (TA) covers 100 percent of my tuition.”

“As a senior NCO, I focus on a lot of business management, so the B.S. in Organizational Management was a great match for me. I take all of my classes at night and on weekends, so I am able to balance my responsibilities with school, family and military obligations. The administrative staff, faculty and advisers were all very receptive to me as a new student and helped me through the transition. The reduced tuition allows me to go to school almost for free using my Tuition Assistance (TA).”

Veterans

I chose St. Joseph’s because as a small liberal arts school, I felt it would give me more of an opportunity to be involved and have a more personal relationship with the students and faculty. I transferred in from a much larger state school where it was easy to get lost in the crowd. St. Joseph’s is a very military-friendly school, with dedicated military advisers there to offer guidance or to help navigate the administrative system, which can be a little intimidating for returning vets. The student-led Armed Forces Club on campus allows me an opportunity to meet other veterans and get involved in events on campus.

“I was treated with total respect. The College utilizes every tool available to help all veterans and active duty military personnel choose the correct degree program that is tracked by the school and offers assistance whenever it is needed, without questions asked. The adviser discussed with me different programs that would fit my time and also my present career path. The College has an Armed Forces Club for veterans that is constantly educating the other students with programs that include face-to-face question-and-answer sessions between regular students and students and staff that are veterans. Using the new Post-9/11 GI Bill, I can go to school for free while collecting a housing allowance as well as a book stipend. “

Forts

“I chose St. Joseph’s College amidst piloting an on-base degree program with SJC for other service members. Not only was I able to provide a program that benefited my shipmates, but I was able to pursue my own professional and personal goals of completing my degree. Having SJC on base at Fort Wadsworth, made balancing the demands of work and school much easier than my previous experiences with other institutions. St. Joseph’s College cares very much for its military personnel and is able to assimilate the benefits of a degree into our unique lifestyle.”
