Social Sciences

St. Joseph's College social sciences students examine economics, sociology and political science. Our students take advantage of several internship and educational opportunities.

Our students develop critical thinking and research skills, which enable them to succeed in graduate and professional schools as well as in the workplace. Recently, two students completed internships at the 2008 Democratic and Republican National Conventions. Another student took part of Howard University's Summer Institute for Research on Race and Wealth.

The Department of Social Sciences develops an understanding of social, economic and political problems along with issues of social justice. We instill an interest that may lead to constructive activity in the solution of contemporary problems in these fields. All courses in the department are open to the entire student body.
