Our mission is to provide quality human resources programs to our members and give them opportunities to gain a working knowledge of the field. We also expose our members to the latest human resources laws and practices via conferences, workshops and seminars, as well as provide the necessary skills for future growth while enhancing their existing human resources skills.

The SHRM group in Brooklyn was awarded the Superior Merit award for outstanding performance during the 2005-2006 school year.
The Brooklyn Chapter of SHRM thanks everyone who participated in the fundraiser for Hour Children. We helped to raise $3,300.

Who Should Attend?
The course is specifically designed for managers and staff with experience in general management or human resource management:
human resources practitioners seeking professional development to enhance or advance their career
experienced managers who are new to the human resource field
other mid–level managers pursuing career change or promotion
human resources professionals planning to take the PHR or SPHR certification exams
Please note that to earn either the PHR or SPHR designation, candidates must have at least two years of exempt-level experience in the human resources field to be eligible to apply for either exam.
This course is strategic in nature, preparing human resources professionals for career advancement opportunities. The course features open, interactive forums and current application exercises to effectively reinforce the key concepts of each session.
Participants minimize travel expenses for professional development.
Practitioner-focused and competency-based
The curriculum is designed by subject matter experts and includes application exercises that develop specific competencies and decision-making skills.
Many participants are eligible to apply for employer tuition reimbursement.
The course provides opportunities for human resources professionals to network, share on-the-job experiences and apply what they’ve learned to the workplace. Program modules and topics.
Certified HR professionals can earn credits toward PHR/SPHR recertification. The course also includes:
a software component that increases performance on certification exams and encourages more strategic thinking on HR issues
individual post-module testing that allows you to assess your HR knowledge in each functional area
a Guide to Smart Test Taking to help improve your test–taking skills
The program’s fees do not cover registration for the HRCI examinations held each May and December. This program may earn you 3 credits towards a bachelor’s degree at St. Joseph’s College.
Brooklyn Course Dates
Six Alternating Full-Day Saturdays
Application and payment for the PHR® and SPHR® national certification examinations are separate from those of the certificate program.
Program registration fee is $1,015 (SHRM members $995), which includes all required readings, workbook and mastery tests. Individuals choosing self-study pay basically the same fee for the SHRM Learning System® materials alone. By registering for the St. Joseph’s College program, you receive all materials and benefits from courses taught by experienced SPHRs and human resource professionals familiar with the exam process.

Make checks payable to St. Joseph’s College. Please list only one person per registration form and allow two weeks to process mail-in registrations. Confirmation will be mailed to you upon receipt of your registration.

The College reserves the right to cancel courses. In the event of cancellation, all registrants will be notified immediately and a full refund will be made. Persons wishing to cancel their enrollment and receive a refund of the registration fee must do so in writing no later then five days prior to the first class.
