Graduate School Fair
If
you are thinking about going to graduate school, this is the event to
learn more about what options are available to you. Representatives from
colleges and universities in the surrounding areas and regions are
invited to provide students with the opportunity to learn about their
particular schools and gain an early start on the graduate school
application process. This event is held every fall semester for the Brooklyn and Long Island campuses.
Day on Wall Street
Students
that are interested in learning about the business world will have an
opportunity to spend the day in Manhattan and network with successful
business people who also serve as St. Joseph’s College alumni mentors. This event is held every December for both the Brooklyn and Long Island campuses.
L.I.E.R.C.
The
Long Island Education Recruitment Consortium is a collaborative teacher
fair with colleges and universities in the area. Students and alumni
are provided the opportunity to interview on site with various public
and private schools from across the country. Applications are available
every December. This event is held every spring semester for both the Brooklyn and Long Island campuses.
Pathways to Success Internship and Job Fair
The
Pathways to Success Internship and Job Fair provides both students and
alumni the opportunity to network with professional recruiters and
secure career, internship or volunteer opportunities. This event is held in the fall semester on the Brooklyn Campus and the spring semester on the Long Island Campus.

A Guide to Graduate School

Are you considering attending graduate school? Are you beginning the process of preparing, choosing and applying to graduate school? Join us for this workshop which will help answer important questions concerning graduate school including, why should I go, what programs are available, how do I get in and how will I be able to pay? Gather insight into the entire graduate school process as well as various graduate school resources to conduct an effective search. Representatives from Kaplan and the
Princeton Review offer select workshops on the various graduate school
exams throughout the year.
Choosing a Major Workshop 
Choosing a major can be a difficult process for any student. Other students may eventually decide to change their major. To help with this process, this workshop has been designed to help all students learn more about themselves and possible majors and careers that are linked to specific majors. Explore the necessary steps to take in order to clarify your skills, interests and values to help you determine what major matches your goals.
Career and Internship Exploration
This workshop will give you the tools and resources to effectively search for an internship, learn about different self-assessment tools and see which careers are linked to the different majors that are offered at St. Joseph's College. Learn what steps you need to take to clarify your skills, interests and values so you can determine the most rewarding major and career.
Career Fair Preparation Workshop

Is there really a need to prepare for a job fair? The answer is a resounding yes. In this workshop we will take a close look at the many benefits of attending a job fair, as well as the necessary preparations to make this a successful and worthwhile venture for you.
How to Obtain an Internship Workshop 
Internships are a great way to gain important career related experience while you are a college student. In today’s job market, a degree may not be enough to secure your dream job. Since many employees are interested in a graduate with experience, this workshop has been developed to assist students in exploring the importance of an internship, the types of internships that are available and how to search for an internship.
Interviewing Skills Workshop

Your resume and job search have successfully led to a job interview. It may be the final hurdle in your quest for that special job. For many though, the most dreaded aspect of a job search is the interview. You will be provided with tips and techniques that will improve your interview performance and give you the confidence that will enable you to have success in the interview process. Topics include interview preparation, how to avoid interview mistakes and a review of common interview questions.
Interviewing Skills Workshop for Teachers 
In this workshop you will learn the key questions that are asked during an interview for a teaching position. Learn how to prepare for an interview, how to effectively answer interview questions and understand why sometimes people do and do not get hired. Gain helpful tips and tools that will help clarify what you need to know as a teacher. Optimal Resume will be discussed throughout this workshop.

Résumé and Cover Letter Writing Workshop

Does your résumé need to be revised? Perhaps you do not have a résumé at all. This workshop will provide information that will help you create an effective résumé and cover letter. A professional résumé will stand out and increase your chance of getting an interview with an employer. Optimal résumé will be discussed throughout this workshop.
Student Teaching Résumé Writing Workshop 
Use this opportunity to learn what it takes to create an effective student teaching résumé and a résumé for a teaching position. You will learn how to use your student teaching experiences to create a résumé that is reflective of your teaching skills and experiences. Learn how to stand out from the crowd and personalize your résumé. Specific workshops are offered for child study majors and the adolescent education program.
Personal Statement Workshop

Graduate and professional programs as part of their admissions criteria; require a written, personal statement from their candidates. This workshop will provide specific guidelines to help you write your best and most effective personal statement and review the types of personal statements that are generally asked of candidates.
