S. Suzanne Franck is the associate academic dean for SJC’s Long Island Campus, working on student and faculty academic issues and initiating new programs with adjunct faculty. She has taught in the Department of Religious Studies since 1995, and has successfully incorporated a service-learning component into the curriculum.
S. Suzanne supervises several faculty members who have also incorporated service learning into their courses. She has attended several conferences, including internationally, on theological and environmental issues. In 2007, she attended the Catholic Theological Society of America Conference where she delivered her paper, “The Bishops’ Ecological Pastorals: Foundation for an Ethics of Ecological Interrelation.” She also attended the 2004 Parliament of Worlds Religions in Barcelona, Spain as a New Government Organization United Nations representative.
Committed to serving the Long Island community for decades, S. Suzanne provides grief counseling to the families and friends of those affected by AIDS and divorce. She has also worked as a pastoral minister for the Diocese of Rockville Center, co-directing the Rainbows Program.
S. Suzanne is a member of the American Academy of Religion, the Catholic Theological Society of America and the Catholic Theology Society.
