Susan Straut Collard has been a dedicated advocate of the study and practice of child development and teacher education for more than 20 years. In addition to being the associate chair of the Department of Child Study and the director of the Dillon Child Study Center, Dr. Straut Collard teaches classes on classroom management, education of students with learning disabilities and collaborative leadership processes.

Dr. Straut Collard has been the board president of the Francine Towers Owners Corporation since 1993. She is also a board member of the Kings Highway Nursery School and an officer in the parent association for a local public school. Her professional affiliations include the Council for Exceptional Children, Interdisciplinary Council for Children with Developmental Learning Disorders and the New York Association of Teacher Educators, among others.
