Committee On Honors

The Committee on Honors recognizes and rewards student achievement.

Functions

  • to recommend to the faculty standards for the awarding of honors

  • to vote on student membership in honor societies

  • to clarify the role of participation in extracurricular activities in the awarding of honors and to define extracurricular activities that come under this heading

  • to publicize the awarding of honors through the Office of Public Relations and through the student newspaper.

The Dean’s List is reserved to the dean. Department honors are reserved to the departments.

Membership

  • seven to 10 faculty members appointed by the dean from among volunteers

  • assistant dean of academic affiars, ex-officio

  • registrar, ex-officio

  • director of counseling and career services, ex-officio

Term

Three years
