The program will include a networking breakfast, followed by a panel presentation and Q&A session with local HTM experts. Panelists include Mayor Paul Pontieri, Incorporated Village of Patchogue; Supervisor Frank P. Petrone, Town of Huntington; Donald Monti, president and CEO of Renaissance Downtowns; and John C. Tsunis, Esq., chair of the New York State Hospitality and Leisure Association and owner of Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook. The panel will be moderated by Mike Johnston, president of the Long Island Hospitality and Leisure Association and principal of the Concorde Hotel Group.

“This event will focus on how downtown revitalization projects impact tourism in their respective communities and Long Island as a whole,” said Gail Lamberta, Ph.D., L.I. Campus associate dean; chairperson; co-chair, HTM and professor of hospitality and tourism management and recreation at SJC. “To this end, the panel will provide us with what they see as the short- and long-term effects on their communities as tourist destinations. The program aligns with the mission of the Institute in its quest to provide a leading voice in the discussion of responsible tourism and hospitality.”

Following the recent development of SJC’s Hospitality and Tourism Management Program, the HTM Institute was created to provide a leading voice in the discussion of responsible hospitality as a critical component to running a successful enterprise. In addition, the College seeks to prepare students for professional careers in this growing field, while making a positive impact, not only on our local region, but on the global community as well.

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. To RSVP, contact 631.687.1285 or email
