Celebrating the 100th anniversaries of St. Joseph’s College and the National Park Service at Watch Hill on Fire Island. 

Cohosted by St. Joseph’s College, Fire Island National Seashore and the Friends of Fire Island National Seashore (FFINS)

At Watch Hill, a few of the activities include:

  • Participate in science programs with St. Joseph's College professors. 
  • An En plein air sketching and painting workshop with Dawn Lee, chairperson of the Department of Art at SJC.
  • Fire Island National Seashore Ranger-guided program: Catch of the Day Marine Seining on the Great South Bay. Water shoes required.

Explore on your own:

  • Walk the boardwalk nature trail through the salt marsh, maritime forest and on to the ocean beach. 
  • Hike the Wilderness - The Otis Pike Fire Island High Dune Wilderness contains a variety of barrier island ecosystems in a relatively natural condition. It is the only federally designated wilderness in the State of New York.
  • Swim and sunbathe on the lifeguarded ocean-side beach. Restrooms, changing stations and showers are available. 

Enjoy a Centennial Celebration Reception with light refreshments at The Pier at Watch Hill Marina.
 

Reservations are required to attend.
