October 03, 2015 LI

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – October 3, 2015 – For an entire century, St. Joseph’s College (SJC) has prepared and developed leaders who have made significant contributions to industry, our communities and society. As we approach and celebrate the College’s centennial, SJC is pleased to announce that it will host a Centennial Kickoff Celebration on Saturday, October 3 at 12 p.m. at SJC Long Island in Patchogue.

The celebration will begin with a Community Day celebration that will feature food, beverages, and activities for children of all ages. Throughout the day, guests are invited to tour SJC Long Island’s lakeside campus, visit an art show, partake in men’s and women’s soccer games, and participate in acting and improv classes, exercise and dance classes, and career and educational workshops.

“As president of St. Joseph’s College, I am especially pleased to invite members of the SJC and surrounding communities to help us celebrate this milestone,” said Jack P. Calareso, Ph.D., president of SJC. “I am looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish in our next 100 years and promise to continue honoring the traditions that this institution was built on.”

Founded in 1916, SJC opened its doors to 12 students in the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn. In 1978, SJC opened its 25-acre lakeside campus in Patchogue which now includes the Clare Rose Playhouse, the Callahan Library, the John A. Danzi Athletic Center, and most recently, the 24.8-acre, Outdoor Field Complex. Over the years, the College expanded and now has more than 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and 33,000 alumni.

“As an alumna and long-time member of the SJC family, I am excited to be part of the College’s centennial,” said Paige Napoli Carbone ’02, director of alumni engagement and college centennial. “I look forward to seeing many of our alumni, students, faculty and friends at our kickoff event. There will surely be something for everyone.”

These events are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Paige Napoli Carbone ’02 at 631.687.2653 or visit 100.sjcny.edu.
