St. Joseph's College branched out to Long Island in 1971, when it inaugurated
an extension program in a collegiate center in Brentwood.
In 1972, the College petitioned the Board of Trustees to expand this program into a branch. The Board of Regents gave its authorization in 1978 and the next year, the College moved to its current 27-acre lakeside campus in Patchogue.
At the heart of campus stands O’Connor Hall, the College’s first building. Nearby, the John A. Danzi Athletic Center includes a competition-sized swimming pool, fitness rooms and a full-sized gym with an elevated track. Other campus facilities include the Callahan Library and the Clare Rose Playhouse.
The new 33,000-square-foot Business Technology Center provides students with state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring them ample opportunity to integrate technology into their studies. In addition to videoconference rooms and computer labs, the College has installed a number of Smart Classrooms and plans to add more. Though separated by 60 miles, the Brooklyn and Long Island campuses are linked through a fiber-optic intra-campus network that connects all offices, instructional facilities, computer labs and libraries.
