Work Hard, Play Hard

At St. Joseph’s College, you’ll be encouraged to exercise your talents beyond the classroom. There’s probably no better way to become fully integrated into campus life than participating in some form of athletic pursuit. At SJC, you’ll have opportunities to make friends and stay active in a sport you already know well — or you can enjoy a completely new challenge. Try out for a varsity sport, from basketball to tennis to cross-country and more. Join a club or intramural team and develop your skills and sense of humor with dance, bicycling or ping-pong.

You’ll have more choices than time. Just don’t stay on the sideline — unless, of course, you’re cheering enthusiastically for your fellow students.

On the Long Island Campus, you’ll find opportunities to enjoy athletic competition, foster personal fitness and engage in recreational activities in our 48,250-square-foot John A. Danzi Athletic Center. The facility’s outstanding features include a 25-yard heated swimming pool, strength training room, aerobics/dance studio, basketball and volleyball courts, elevated track and state-of-the-art fitness room. In addition, SJC teams benefit from a new outdoor athletic complex with illuminated baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, a soccer/lacrosse field, spectator bleachers, a concession stand, a 400-meter track, a facilities building, and trails for jogging and nature walks.

SJC’s Brooklyn Campus boasts successful varsity teams that will practice and compete in a new three-story, 26,000-square-foot multipurpose athletic facility. The athletic center, located in the heart of our campus on Vanderbilt Avenue, will house amenities for the College’s athletes and students. They include a 290-spectator NCAA-regulation basketball and volleyball court; spacious locker rooms for teams, students, faculty and staff; a fully equipped fitness center; an athletic training room; a multipurpose/video conference room; a fully furnished dance studio; and an outdoor terrace.
