23rd Annual Eastern Conference 2007

October 12 and 13, 2007
St. Joseph’s College, Patchogue, New York

Please park in the Student Parking lot located just off the South Service Road of Sunrise Highway and adjacent to the athletic center. Registration and all sessions will be in the Business and Technology Center. The poster presentations, keynote address, social, banquet and luncheon, will all be in the main building, O’Connor Hall.

We hope you are planning to attend the CCSC Eastern 2007 Conference. The Committee has prepared an exciting program consisting of scholarly papers, tutorials, workshops, panels and “Nifty” tools and assignments on current areas of computing education.  The Program at a Glance is now available.

Our banquet speaker, Bob Metcalfe, will share his insight on the “Ethernet is the Answer: What is the Question?”. The keynote presentation by Bart Mallio from the Cold Spring Harbor Research Laboratory will acquaint us with the issues surrounding “Message Hiding Using Steganography and Forensic Approaches for Discovery.  Peter Allen has been invited to present  “Integrating New Digital Technology into the Humanities: 3D Modeling for Archaeology, Art History and Urban Planning”. Stephen Cooper, will conduct a Post-Conference workshop to amaze and inform us with the Object-Oriented world of “Alice” its applications in introductory courses and its success in motivating middle and high school students – especially young women.

Two exciting activities are planned for undergraduate students, a poster session and an undergraduate Programming Competition. We also welcome submissions for special sessions for K-12 teachers and pre-service teachers.

Even if you missed the deadline for paper submissions to be included in the Journal of Computing Sciences, there are still opportunities to actively participate.  We invite your participation as presenters of “Lightning Talks” or at the poster session, as session chairs and as attendees. More information is available in the original Call for Participation, and important basic contact information  and details are listed below. We hope that you will join us and assure you that you will enjoy a rewarding experience.

Encourage your students to come as a Programming Team or Poster Presenter, too!
