Council for the Arts

The Council for the Arts at St. Joseph's College is a group of SJC volunteers and the surrounding community that foster and encourage an appreciation and enjoyment of the fine and performing arts.

The council develops an enduring love of the arts and encourages active involvement from St. Joseph's students and the surrounding community, either as participants or as informed spectators. We believe that experiencing the power and beauty of dance, theater, music and visual arts will enrich and ultimately transform their lives.

The Council for the Arts also exposes the SJC community to a variety of artistic experiences that involve making contacts, introducing performing artists to the College, developing and implementing programs, such as an artist-in-residence program and helping raise funds to provide these activities.

The commitment to membership of the Council for the Arts is open-ended, but it is hoped that members will be willing to serve no fewer than three years.
