Bio

Since 1978, Thomas Travis, Ph.D., has served in many roles at St. Joseph’s University, New York, including director of professional and graduate studies, dean, vice president for planning and interim provost. He currently serves as a special assistant to the University President Dr. Donald Boomgaarden. 

Over the years, Dr. Travis has introduced new programs of study, including online degree programs, and registered numerous health, business and computer information sciences certificates. He administered academic programs and services for adults and non-traditional learners,  established a prior experiential learning assessment program, directed funded projects to create problem solving and critical thinking courses for professionals, participated in developing accelerated weekend trimester offerings and established a non-credit continuing education program.

Dr. Travis has secured numerous grants for the University and has held board positions for the Hope for the Children Foundation, the CSJ Learning Connection for Adult Education and the Merrill H. Masin and Graham D. Masin Foundation.
