The Department of English seeks to fill a tenure track position. Requirements are as follows: a Medieval specialist who has the earned doctorate or who will have completed it in the very near future. Tenure-Track Position in Chemistry  

The Department of Physical Sciences at St. Joseph’s College, New York with campuses in Brooklyn and Patchogue, Long Island, invites applications for a Brooklyn based Assistant Professor of Chemistry to begin Fall 2008. Successful candidates will teach lecture and laboratory courses supporting the premedical program, the chemistry major and the core for non-science majors. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in chemistry, demonstrate a commitment to high-quality undergraduate education and have a strong interest in encouraging student scholarship and research. We are seeking candidates with teaching and research interests in at least one of the following areas: analytical, inorganic, organic or biochemistry. Teaching experience at the college level is a plus.

Assistant Professor of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy at the St. Joseph’s College seeks applications for a tenure track assistant professor position, beginning August 2008. We are a commuter college with two campuses, one in Brooklyn, New York City and one on Long Island in Patchogue. The faculty would most likely be required to teach on both campuses but would be primarily based in Brooklyn. St. Joseph’s offers a minor in Philosophy but not a major.

AOS: Social philosophy but a strong dedication to undergraduate teaching with an interest in teaching a range of courses is key. Duties include teaching four course a term, participation on committees and an active engagement in the college community. A Masters in philosophy is required with a PhD preferred.

Assistant Certified Athletic Trainer

St. Joseph’s College is seeking a full-time Certified Athletic Trainer to join our staff. The position is 12 months with a full benefits package. Responsibilities include team assignments (to be determined), athletic training room and event coverage. Datatel Programmer

General Description: Analyzes, defines, and documents requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs. Writes and maintains technical specifications. Develops and maintains plans outlining steps and timetables for developing programs.

Converts designs and specifications into computer code. Customizes and codes screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems. Compiles code into programs and corrects errors detected in compile process. Creates test transactions and runs tests to find errors and confirm programs meet specifications. Analyzes code to find causes of errors and revises programs. Consults with users to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs.

Writes and maintains documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections. Writes documentation or reviews documentation written by others that describes installation and operating procedures.

Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, problems, or questions about programs. Trains end users or technical support staff to use programs. Installs and tests programs with users. Monitors performance of programs after implementation.

Works with users in analyzing requirements, procedures and problems to develop effective and appropriate Datatel Colleague solutions needed to satisfy the College Student Services Department's functional requirements, as well as provides direct Colleague support and end user training. These duties are deemed typical, but not inclusive of other duties as the College's needs change.

Implements and customizes the Datatel Colleague system as it relates to all aspects of the College's Student Services Department's business processes. Consults with users to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements.

Education/Experience: Minimum 3 year’s experience with analysis, programming and designing information systems in a Datatel environment. Requires several of the following: object-oriented programming languages, Oracle, Unix, Unidata, Envision, Web Advisor, Powerview, Windows XP, Visual Basic, MS Office, MS SQL server. We are using Oracle-based, R17 migration to R18 in June.
