The Pre-Law program at SJC Long Island provides a wealth of resources for students interested in practicing law. Pre-Law offers free LSAT prep, special events and law school application assistance. The program offers specific resources that are designed to ensure that all Pre-Law students are prepared for the hard work and critical thinking needed to be successful in law school.
Pre-Law advising at St. Joseph's College is designed to respond to the interests and futures of all our students in a diverse and flexible manner. It is our goal to ensure that all students that participate in the Pre-Law program are prepared and accepted to law school.
St. Joseph's College is chartering a branch of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International. Students have access to internships, discounted LSAT prep and law school application assistance. Membership may extend into law school and beyond, creating opportunities for future legal work.
Graduates of St. Joseph's College have gone on to study at a variety of excellent law schools, including Washington College of Law at American University, University of Minnesota School of Law and Stetson University College of Law. Students have also moved on to great law schools in New York including St. John's University School of Law, Hofstra Law and University at Buffalo Law School.
“I take it, therefore, that the object of all properly conducted law schools throughout our country, is not merely to train artisans in the law to exercise their mechanical functions as attorneys, but to teach the young men of this land the principles of the laws by which we govern ourselves, and the history and nature of our institutions, to the end that there may be disseminated among our people such an understanding that enlightened public opinion may control the enforcement of our laws, the administration of our government, and all projects for the amendment or alteration of laws or institutions.”
—former Attorney General George W. Wickersham, The Changing Order (1914)
