Journalism and New Media Studies

The minor in Journalism and New Media Studies provides students with focused study in convergent journalism. All students in the minor take introductory journalism courses and the entry-level digital video and audio production course (JNM210). Upper-division electives in topic-specific reporting and the business of media provide minors with a strong understanding of and experience in the fields of new media communication and convergent journalism.

Students in the minor may do an internship in Journalism New Media and take JNM435 (Supervised Internship) as an elective and in addition to the required courses for the major.

The Journalism and New Media Studies minor provides an excellent opportunity for students from all majors to add a strong writing and new media communication component to their education.
