A Message From New President Dr. Jack Calareso

I am honored to be selected as the next President of St. Joseph’s College and greatly appreciate the confidence in my values and abilities demonstrated by the Board of Trustees and the SJC community.

When my wife, Rose, and I visited the campuses of SJC less than two weeks ago, we were overwhelmed by the clear commitment to the mission and values of St. Joseph’s College exhibited by everyone we met. Furthermore, the hospitality shown to us and the thoughtful participation in the search process reflected so clearly that the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph is alive and well in the community. Trustees, students, alumni, faculty and staff all care deeply about the College … its mission, its history and most important, its future.

As Rose and I prepare to join you this summer, our hope is that we can prove to be worthy members of the dynamic communities in both Brooklyn and Patchogue. As your next President, my goal is to do my best to emulate the great success and strong leadership of S. Elizabeth Hill. You have been most fortunate to have her vision and passion for SJC evident in all that she has done over the past years. I look forward to working with her during the transition and calling on her regularly in future years for her wisdom, experience and advice.

During the next few months, I plan to visit the two campuses regularly. My goal is to meet you, to learn about your programs and services and listen to your ideas about the future. I want you to share your experiences as well as your hopes and dreams for SJC. My desire is that when I formally begin my tenure as your next President, I will be ready and able to work with you to advance our shared goals. Together, we will build upon SJC’s remarkable past to create an extraordinary future!

If you would like to share your ideas or speak with me, email me at jcalareso@sjcny.edu or jcalareso@annamaria.edu, or call 508.849.3333. Thank you for all you do for St. Joseph’s College.

Sincerely,
Jack P. Calareso, Ph.D.
