Class of ’64 Reunion
by Barbara Kempczinski ’64

1964 Class ReunionOn May 3, 2009, to celebrate their 45th anniversary of graduating from St. Joseph’s College, the Class of 1964 came together to organize a special reunion to honor its members, several of which also attended the Spring Reunion held in April at the University Club in NYC.

In attendance was SJC President S. Elizabeth A. Hill, C.S.J., J.D. also a member of the Class of ’64, as well as 33 of her fellow classmates.

Other guests included the Rev. Robert Lauder, S. Mary Florence Burns, Professor Stanley Nevins and S. John Raymond McGann.

Orchestrated by a group of 10 class members, the group worked together to contact other classmates, plan the luncheon and arrange activities for the event. In addition, a special scholarship fund for eligible female students attending the Brooklyn Campus as the first college attendee in their family was established, of which three students have already benefited. In celebration of this anniversary, the Class of ’64 Scholarship Fund was increased to more than $75,000 with the hope of it doubling by the 50th anniversary in 2014.

Following a delicious lunch, the group remained in the Red Room for more than two hours, discussing their current whereabouts and reminiscing about recollections of their days at St. Joseph’s.
