The Clare Rose Playhouse Celebrates its 25th Anniversary Season
by Melissa Kuehnle

The Clare Rose Playhouse, which serves as a major teaching facility for the College’s theater courses, will be celebrating its 25th anniversary season.
“Arriving on campus in 1981, I spotted an abandoned house in the woods and I had a dream. Twenty-five years later, I think about the number of students for whom the Clare Rose Playhouse has been a training ground and the thousands of audience members who have seen our productions and continue to applaud the intimacy of the theatre and the quality of our work,” said S. Grace Rowland, founder and executive director of the Clare Rose Playhouse. “I look forward to celebrating our 25th anniversary with our current students, our talented alums and our countless supporters who have made my dream come true.”
With a variety of shows ranging from the laugh-out-loud Bernard Slade comedy Return Engagements to the high-spirited revival of the musical Godspell, this season promises to be exciting for a variety of audiences, young and old. A former cottage converted in 1985 through the generosity and guidance of the man for whom it is named, the playhouse serves as a training ground for young and amateur actors. The playhouse is the site of community theater productions of musicals, dramas, comedies, cabaret acts, musical performances, dance troupes and comedians.
