Fundraising Update
By Michael Banach

SJC Annual Fund

As the end of the academic year draws to a close, we’d like to thank our alumni and friends for their continued energy and enthusiasm for the College and its mission. Your ongoing support has played an integral role in enabling our students to pursue their dreams here at St. Joseph’s, and, as always, you have our deepest gratitude.

We’re pleased to announce that the College was the grateful recipient of a $100,000 gift this March from one our most generous alum, Mrs. Doris Oshinski Powers and her husband, to commemorate the 55th anniversary of her graduation from St. Joseph’s. Half of the proceeds of this gift will go to increasing the principal of the endowed scholarship that she established to support students pursuing degrees in science. The remaining funds will be set aside for future capital projects on the Brooklyn campus. As always, we are grateful for her continued generosity and commitment to the College.

This fiscal year alone, the College has received over $900,000 for student scholarships and financial aid from our alumni and friends. Thanks to yearly contributions from alumni like you, St. Joseph’s is able to provide our students with the most up-to-date learning facilities. For instance, we’ve raised $55,000 just this fiscal year to keep our libraries and laboratories equipped with the newest technologies. In addition, the $400,000 that we received in unrestricted gifts this year will help us not only pay for everyday expenses, but will also allow us to meet unforeseen challenges and take advantage of new opportunities confidently and expeditiously.

Every gift that we receive makes a real impact in the lives of our students. Please consider making a gift to St. Joseph’s, as June 30 marks the end of the 2007-08 SJC fiscal year. For more information about giving to the St. Joseph’s College Fund, please contact Carrie Graf '03 at 631.447.3396 or via email at Cgraf@sjcny.edu for the Long Island campus. For the Brooklyn Campus, please contact J.P. Lucero at 718.636.6880 or via email at Jplucero@sjcny.edu.

Thank you and have a great summer!
