Spring Phonathon a Big Success
By Michael Banach
The St. Joseph’s College Fund is pleased to announce that its Spring Phonathon was a rousing success on both campuses. The Phonathon is one of the most rewarding events that we conduct - it provides our students with an opportunity to connect with our alumni and provide them with a first-hand perspective of what’s going on at St. Joseph’s and also to ask for their support.
Through this, we’re able to solidify our connection with old friends and raise funds crucial to our continued growth.
Despite losing a day to inclement weather, the student callers for the Brooklyn Campus’ Phonathon raised over $15,000, a significant increase over last year’s efforts. In addition, they also secured over 100 more pledges of support than last year. “Their enthusiasm was what put us over,” stated J.P. Lucero, coordinator of the Annual Fund. “Even though we lost a day, we had a great group of hardworking kids who made it clear how important alumni support is to their education. The success we had is a credit to their hard work, and of course, to the generosity of our alumni.”
On the Long Island Campus, the Phonathon is also fast becoming a regular success. Even though the Phonathon was instituted a mere 18 months ago on the Long Island Campus, the St. Joseph’s Fund and its student callers have already established a productive rapport with Long Island alumni. Each successive Phonathon so far has added at least 30 new pledges and raised more money than the previous one. Of course, this would not be possible without the steadfast effort of our students and the generosity of our alumni.
