New Student Orientation '08! "History in the Making"
Dear New Student,
My name is Leandra Derico and I would like to extend to you my warmest welcome to the St. Joseph’s College community. Congratulations on making the choice to attend SJC!
I know from my own experience how overwhelming and intimidating the transition from high school can be. Therefore, as Student Government Association Vice President and Orientation ’08 Chairperson, I am here to ensure that your experience is a positive, enriching and enjoyable one. At this College, the entire Student Government and the Orientation Leadership Team are involved in helping you to best utilize staff and resources. In order to begin to assist you with this transition, the first thing we have planned is a full day of orientation activities on Tuesday, September 2nd. Orientation 2008 will provide you with the opportunity to become more familiar with the College campus as well as meeting other new and current students. The upperclassmen who serve as Orientation Leaders will be there to help you throughout the day by answering questions, discussing important information, providing motivation, and joining in all of the fun-filled activities. The theme for your Orientation is: “SJC 2012: History in the Making” and it is dedicated entirely to YOU! And the festivities don’t end there----orientation continues on Wednesday, Sept. 3rd with the “BACK-TO-SCHOOL BBQ & CLUB FAIR. Many other events have been planned for New Students, so mark your September calendar: Monday, Sept. 8: Investiture of New Students Wednesday, Sept. 10: Club Sampler Friday, Sept. 19: Trip to see “Godspell” on Broadway Tuesday, Sept. 23: Caribbean Fest Thursday, Sept. 25: Outdoor Movie on the Mall Friday, Sept. 26: Trip to Mets Game Tuesday, Sept. 30: ‘90s Party at Evodio’s Place
Information on all of the above, and even more events throughout the Fall Semester, will follow in the upcoming weeks. I hope that you will become involved in Student Life and all that it has to offer.
