Svetlana Medvedeva Named USCAA Player of the Week

Senior center Svetlana Medvedeva (Brooklyn, NY) was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association's (USCAA) Player of the Week for the week ending January 6th, 2007. This is her first time in her career receiving the honor and the first by a Lady Bear this season.

Medvedeva had one of the most impressive single-game individual performances in Lady Bear history against Old Westbury on January 5th. After trailing by 11 at halftime, Svetlana helped spark a St. Joe's comeback by recording a double-double in the second half (16 points, 11 rebounds) and her free throws at the 2:24 mark brought the Lady Bears to their smallest margin of a one point. Medvedeva finished with a game high 26 points & 17 points (9 offensive) and shot 78.6% from the field (11 for 14).
