Intramurals & Recreational Activities

St. Joseph’s College is dedicated to providing a diverse population of students in the New York metropolitan area with an affordable education rooted in the liberal arts tradition since 1916. Independent and coeducational, the College provides a strong academic and value-oriented education at the undergraduate and graduate levels, aiming to prepare each student for a life characterized by integrity, intellectual and spiritual values, social responsibility, and service. With campuses located in the Clinton Hill area of Brooklyn and in Patchogue, Long Island, the College offers degrees in over 22 majors, special course offerings and certificates, affiliated and pre-professional programs through its School of Arts and Sciences and its School of Professional and Graduate Studies.

Mission & Purpose

The purpose of an Intramurals Program is to plan and develop sport programs and sponsor recreational activities.  Intramurals is a branch of athletic activities, which will benefit the athletes and students that would like to be part of non-intercollegiate athletics.  Flag Football, Volleyball, Wiffleball, Basketball, and Soccer are some Intramural Sport Programs that may be included throughout the college year.  Tournaments, Competitions, and Free Yoga and Pilates Classes are activities that may be included as recreational activities.

Under the direction of the Coordinator for Intramurals, this program will work collaboratively with the Student Life and Athletic Staff Departments.   In addition, the ongoing events will take into consideration the expressed interest of the student body.  The Coordinator for Intramurals will also co-sponsor athletic events with Greek Life and Student Government Association Organizations.
