Long Island Campus - Patchogue

St. Joseph's College students find an affordable college of academic excellence, real-life learning, personal attention and a vibrant, caring community.

St. Joseph's College branched out into Long Island in 1971, when it inaugurated an extension program in a collegiate center in Brentwood. In 1972, the college petitioned the Board of Trustees to expand this program into a branch campus of the college. The Board of Regents gave its authorization in 1978, and the next year, the college moved to its current twenty-seven acre lake-side campus in Patchogue. At the heart of campus stands O’Connor Hall, the College’s first building. Nearby, the John A. Danzi Recreation/Fitness Center includes a competition-sized swimming pool, fitness rooms and a full-sized gym with an elevated track. Other campus facilities include the Callahan Library and the Clare Rose Repertory Theatre.

The new 33,000 square foot Business Technology Center provides students with state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring them ample opportunity to integrate technology into their studies. In addition to video-conference rooms and computer labs, the college has installed a number of “smart classrooms” and plans to add more. Though separated by 60 miles, the Brooklyn and Long Island Campuses are linked through a fiber-optic intra-campus network that connects all offices, instructional facilities, computer labs and libraries.

Business Technology Center:

Opened in October of 2002, St. Joseph’s new $8–million Business Technology Center houses computer workshops, classrooms, and faculty offices in a state–of–the–art, 33,000–square–foot facility. The new B&T Center is part of our strong commitment to developing more computer–based learning throughout the curriculum.

Callahan Library:

The Callahan Library, named in memory of Sister Virginia Therese Callahan, the first Vice–President and Dean of the Long Island Campus, opened in the Fall of 1989. Its main purpose is to support the academic pursuits of all students and faculty through quality service and the timely acquisition of varied types of materials pertinent to the overall college curriculum. Current holdings include books, journals, videos, audiotapes, etc. A curriculum collection, relevant to teaching, is maintained and updated on a regular basis.

Patrons have access to the Internet and many online academic databases. A fully automated library system, Endeavor, ensures the efficient retrieval and management of all library resources. Recently the Callahan instituted an electronic reserve system across the two campuses to save you time and effort while preparing for your classes.

Clare Rose Playhouse:

The Clare Rose Playhouse, an exceptionally beautiful facility, is a former cottage converted in 1985 through the generosity and guidance of the man for whom it is named. The Playhouse serves as a major teaching facility for the college's drama and theater courses and is a training ground for young actors. Year–round, the stage is host for the production of children's theater, storytelling, theatre for the deaf and an intimate forum for local playwrights and poets.

The Playhouse is the site of community theater productions of musicals, dramas, comedies, cabaret acts, musical performances, dance troupes and comedians. See the list of upcoming events.

John A. Danzi Athletic Center:

The John A. Danzi Athletic Center, opened in Spring 1997, is a state–of–the–art athletic complex. The center is an impressive 48,250 square feet and includes a regulation NCAA basketball court, an elevated jogging/walking track and bleacher seating for 1,500 spectators, as well as a six–lane 25–yard pool, aerobics/dance studio and a cardiovascular fitness center including Cybex strength equipment and free weights.

Gregg Alfano Field:

Gregg Alfano Field, located across from the Danzi Center, is home to the St. Joseph’s Baseball, Softball and Soccer teams.

O’Connor Hall:

O’Connor Hall, named in honor of St. Joseph’s past president Sister George Aquin O’Connor, houses the College’s modern computer and science laboratories, full–service cafeteria, auditorium, security offices, student lounges, conference rooms, administrative offices and classrooms, as well as the Long Island Campus Bookstore. O’Connor Hall is the site of most campus activities.

Institutional Advancement:

Located off the main campus, this one–story building houses the Suffolk branch of the Office of Institutional Advancement. A conference room and kitchen are available, and the building is connected to the campus network.
