The American Chemical Society High School Poster Session at St. Joseph’s College

Sunday, October 18, 2009: 1p.m. - 5 p.m. Sign up for the poster session today.

This annual Research Poster Session for High School Students, sponsored by The New York Section of the American Chemical Society and St. Joseph's College, brings many talented students from the metropolitan area to compete and to be recognized for their accomplishments.

 

The program includes

  • Judging of posters by scientists working in industry and academia

  • A guest speaker

  • Certificates to all participants

  • Cash prizes to the four winning presenters.

Participants are expected to arrive and set up their poster between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Judging takes place from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. While awaiting the judge’s decisions, a distinguished scientist will address a contemporary topic of scientific interest and certificates from the American Chemical Society will be distributed.

Featured Keynote Speaker

Zhaohua Dai, Assistant Professor Department of Chemistry and Physical Sciences, Pace University. Sensor Research and Forensic Science Education at Pace.

Zhaohua Dai obtained his B.S. in 1996 from Wuhan University, which is located in the capital city of his home province of Hubei in central China. After getting his M.S. in 1999 from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, he was admitted to New York University, where he received his Ph.D in chemistry in 2004. After a postdoctoral stint with Professor David S. Lawrence at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he joined Pace University as an assistant professor in January, 2006. His research interests include the development of sensing systems for analytes that of environmental, biological and forensic importance.
