Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)

The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) makes it possible for thousands of students here at St. Joseph's College to work toward their dreams.

The Legislature has proposals to increase the maximum TAP award from $5,165 to $6,500, the minimum to $1,000, and the family income ceiling from $80,000 to $125,000. If enacted, this will ease the financial burden on existing students, as well as make an SJC education possible for many others.

Please contact your legislators and show your support for our students and institutions such as St. Joseph's College.

"NYS TAP aid has made it possible for me to pursue my dreams of becoming a health professional by allowing me to focus on my studies and not on how I will pay my tuition. The faculty and staff at SJC are always there for students and are constantly reminding them of the countless opportunities available — a quality that has definitely prepared me for my career."

"Financial aid has made it possible for me to go the college of my choosing. Personally, the burden of paying for my college education was placed on my shoulders, and the only reason I have been able to attend St. Joseph's College is due to the fact that I have been able to receive a full, or a near-full TAP grant every year for my college education. Only with the assistance provided through financial aid, specifically TAP assistance, in combination with my scholarship, have I been able to be successful in this wonderful institution."

"With the help of the NYS Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) I am able to attend SJC, where I get the support that I need as a first-generation college student so that I can achieve my full potential. I want to get an education — not only so I can just have a future for myself, but so I can help others have the ability to as well. I believe everyone should have an equal chance at success and a bright future. By alleviating financial pressures, TAP enables us to pursue our dreams."

"While becoming a more active member of our campus community, I have seen firsthand how much TAP has benefited my fellow students. Going to college in New York is not only tough, but increasingly expensive as well. TAP makes college more affordable and allows access to the tools that students need to become better leaders. Expanding the program would increase the number of leaders that New York State, and more specifically SJC, will have to offer."

"As the first person in my family to attend college, achieving my goals and having a successful educational foundation will be one of the proudest moments of my life. My education at St. Joseph’s College would not be possible without the support I receive from my mother and financial aid. Expanding the New York State Tuition Assistance Program will make it possible for thousands of students like me across our state to enjoy the benefits provided by colleges like St. Joseph's that they would have not otherwise have been able to afford."

"As a student leader, I regularly see the impact that the Tuition Assistance Program has on SJC Long Island. Many of my friends rely on the support they receive to earn a degree at St. Joseph's, and expanding access to the program will provide thousands of additional students across the state with the means to enroll in college."
