St. Joseph’s College Council of the Arts Presents Risa Jaroslaw
As part of its semester-long series Identity Formed and Transformed: My Self, My Community and My World, St. Joseph’s College Council for the Arts is pleased to announce that choreographer Risa Jaroslaw and her dance troupe will preview excerpts from her latest piece, Sixty. This event is free and open to the public.
With her 60th birthday fast approaching, Jaroslaw embarked on a new form of collaboration by asking sixty people – friends, family, and colleagues – to give her ideas for dances, thus widening her collaborative process. The ideas she received reflect the churn of events and memories, from the exquisite to the absurd, that make up a life.
In addition, the program will feature a performance by a workshop of St. Joseph’s students and faculty led by Jaroslow. This workshop and Jaroslow’s company’s performance of “Sixty” both focus on identity as part of our semester-long series Identity Formed and Transformed., My Self, My Community and My World.
Founded by Sister Elizabeth A. Hill, CSJ, J.D., president, the St. Joseph’s College Council for the Arts is a coalition of students, faculty members and staff who serve as a focal point for St. Joseph’s College’s educational and community outreach programming in the arts. By expanding and integrating campus arts activities, the Council seeks to enhance the public image of the College as a cultural center in Brooklyn and aims to make arts and cultural events more accessible to its students and area neighbors.
