Exhibit Reveals the Artistic Creations of Past Students

PATCHOGUE, NY – MARCH 6, 2006 – The St. Joseph’s College Council for the Arts is proud to display the artwork of the College’s accomplished alumni from March 4, 2006 to March 24, 2006 in the Board Room on the Patchogue, Suffolk campus. The exhibit was assembled to showcase the talents of past students who have added St. Joseph’s College to their resume. The alumni that will be featured in this exhibit come from diverse backgrounds and their artwork ranges in media from impressionist oil paintings to classical drawings.

Michele Gentile ’84, one of the artists featured in the exhibit, focuses on impressionistic paintings of charming locales. She has been commissioned to paint pieces to decorate homes and has created a picture book entitled, “The Secret” scheduled to publish in the coming months. Gentile is the owner of Achievement Therapies, a placement agency for therapists and special educators. Another artist, Karin Padden ‘84, works as a massage therapist in Montauk, Long Island and teaches children’s art classes at the Montauk Art Depot. Padden accepts commissions for portraits of people and pets, and also manages HolyCowPaintings.com, where individuals can order a painting or just check out her artwork. The other artists featured in the exhibit range from a Librarian’s Assistant, Jo-Ann Aichelmann Merkel ’81, who creates oil paintings of her own daughter, to an Instructional Designer, Diane Krieger ‘02, who paints unique images of nature on canvases and rocks.
