PATCHOGUE, NY – April 10, 2006 - St. Joseph’s College announced today that it will hold its 16th Annual Golf Tournament on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at the Sands Point Country Club in Sands Point, New York. The 2006 honoree is Senior Vice President of the Brooklyn/Queens region of Commerce Bank and St. Joseph’s College alumnus Peter M. Meyer, ’87. All proceeds from this event will support the College’s athletic programs.
“We are excited to have such a prestigious individual from the corporate world as our honoree this year,” said Sister Elizabeth Hill, CSJ, J.D., president of St. Joseph’s College. “Peter Meyer is one of St. Joseph’s finest, and it is always refreshing to see our graduates become so successful, and in turn, give back to the community.”
Peter Meyer joined Commerce Bank in 2002, at which time, he spearheaded the bank’s expansion into the Brooklyn/Queens market. Presently, there are now eighteen banking locations in that region, with seven more to come by year's end. As senior vice president for Commerce Bank, Meyer is responsible for consumer and commercial lending and overseas retail branch operation in his market.
Peter Meyer has held numerous senior lending positions with various banks in New York City over the years, and has been instrumental in creating loan programs and products for healthcare and nonprofit organizations in the greater New York area. He is active in the community, serving on the board of a variety of nonprofit and civic organizations, and is currently the Vice Chairman of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce as well as a board member of the Queens Museum of Art, the Downtown Brooklyn Council and the Long Island City Business Development Corporation.
Peter Meyer is a graduate of St. Francis Prep and St. Joseph’s College. He earned his M.B.A. degree from Long Island University.
