PATCHOGUE, NY – APRIL 12, 2006 – Just like New York artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s saffron colored installation “The Gates” took over Central Park in February 2005, colorful pinwheels will envelop the Patchogue Campus of St. Joseph’s College from April 17-21, 2006. Presented by the College’s Art Club, the inspirational installation entitled “Pinwheels” will cover the courtyard of St. Joseph’s at their Patchogue location.
“Pinwheels” will consist of over seven hundred plastic pinwheels in an array of bright colors, each individually placed in the grass of the courtyard. Students from the College’s Art Club purchased all of the pinwheels using funds that were raised from their Chinese Auction in the beginning of April. Individual signs with information on the exhibit will be placed around the perimeter. Any pinwheels that are not damaged at the end of the installation will be donated to children at a local hospital. St. Joseph’s College is located at 155 W. Roe Blvd. in Patchogue, and is accessible via the South Service Road of Sunrise Highway, just east of Exit 52 (Waverly Ave.).
