St. Joseph’s College Student Wins METRO Award Scholarship
Thomas J. Carroll Scholarship Awarded to Galina Padluzskaya

BROOKLYN, NY – APRIL 24, 2006 – The Metropolitan New York Recreation and Park Society, Inc. has awarded St. Joseph’s College student Galina Padluzskaya with the Thomas J. Carroll Scholarship for her work in Recreation and Leisure Studies.

The Thomas J. Carroll Scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated exceptional ability and superior performance in the Recreation and Leisure Studies program at their school and have demonstrated a commitment to developing a career as a recreation/leisure services professional. Applicants must be halfway through the Recreation program at their appropriate institution and have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. They must also take part in extracurricular activities and community service projects to further their education. The winner, Galina Padluzskaya, is a Therapeutic Recreation major from the Brooklyn Campus of St. Joseph’s College. Padluzskaya demonstrated all of the necessary requirements for the scholarship and also wrote a detailed essay on her philosophy of Therapeutic Recreation and her personal career ambitions. Galina Padluzskaya was one of three scholarship recipients for the METRO’s 2006 Awards.

The Metropolitan New York Recreation and Park Society, Inc.
