St. Joseph’s Alum To Release First Book
Graduate of the Class of 1999, Vince Liaguno Publishes a Book Reveling in Horror

PATCHOGUE, NY – AUGUST 2, 2006 – Before attending St. Joseph’s College, Vince Liaguno dedicated himself to caring for the elderly. Consequently, he enrolled at St. Joseph’s and graduated with honors in 1999, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Health Administration. He then went on to acquire licensure as a New York State Nursing Home Administrator. Earlier this year, Liaguno was the recipient of the New Administrator of the Year Award from the New York Chapter of the American College of Health Care Administrators.

Despite his successful career in Health Administration, Liaguno could not resist the call to write. Raised an only child in New Jersey, Liaguno grew up glued to movie and television screens full of blood and gore. He gladly and unreservedly surrendered his bones to the tormenting screams, eerie atmosphere and thrilling gloom. As a result of drenching his childhood in eighties slasher films, Liaguno asserts he developed a “lifelong obsession” from an early age. Thus, it should come as no surprise that the subject of his first novel falls under the genre of suspense-slasher. Liaguno combined his penchant for writing with his fascination with horror to create his novel The Literary Six.

The Literary Six takes place during a college reunion on Shelter Rock Island. A former elite crowd of bookish scholars, the “Literary Six” were notorious for their harsh and unyielding criticism. The book seeks to unfurl the seams of the group with a twist of murder and scandal.

Liaguno has not completely deserted his career in healthcare, nor his other various projects. “The reality of writing today is that most writers … hold down full-time jobs and write on the side. For me, I write whenever I can during the week, but have disciplined myself to write religiously on the weekends. The Literary Six took about two years to complete,” said Liaguno.

Liaguno currently lives on the eastern end of Long Island and is working on completing a piece of fiction that he has been endeavoring to finish for almost fifteen years. “I generally like to have two novels going at once, so right now I’m brainstorming for the second horror/suspense novel,” he said. “I do love killers and madman, so I think it’s a safe bet to say that there’ll be some slicing and dicing in the next horror book as well!”
