BROOKLYN, N.Y.: April 26 2007 - St. Joseph's College is pleased to announce that it recently completed an articulation agreement with Queensborough Community College. This agreement, which will become active for the Fall 2007 semester, is designed to streamline the transfer process for students who have earned an associate degree and seek to earn a bachelor's degree at St. Joseph's.
The articulation agreement specifically provides a degree path for Queensborough graduates who wish to pursue a degree in Child Study, St. Joseph's teacher education program. “Queensborough students receive a solid foundation of general education that prepares them well for their baccalaureate studies,” says Dr. Arthur Corradetti, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs. “We are pleased that our students have this choice of degree path in education with an institution like St. Joseph’s.” Students with an Associate in Arts with a concentration in Liberal Arts or an Associate in Science with a concentration in Math or Science will be accepted into the Child Study program, which leads to New York State certification in four areas: Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education, and Special Education at both levels.
"St. Joseph's has a long history of providing excellent teachers for New York City schools, and in fact, for schools around the country," says Sister Loretta McGrann, Provost, St. Joseph's College. "At this time when schools are experiencing a shortage of certified teachers, we are happy to work with Queensborough Community College to continue our tradition of responding to the educational needs of our community."
For any questions regarding this agreement, please contact Sister Margaret Buckley, Academic Dean, Brooklyn Campus, St. Joseph's College, at (718) 636-6804 or Dr. Arthur Corradetti, Assistant Dean, Office of Academic Affairs, Queensborough Community College, at (718) 631-6344.
