Interim Position To Replace Departing Dean For School of Arts and Sciences

PATCHOGUE, NY – MAY 13, 2007 – St. Joseph’s College has announced that Doris Stratmann will assume the role of interim Dean for the School of Arts and Sciences on the College’s Long Island Campus effective June 2007. Stratmann, who has served as Assistant to the President for Special Projects since September 2003, will replace current Dean, Dr. Randall Krieg, who recently accepted the position of Academic Vice President at Saint Joseph’s College in Maine. A search committee will select a permanent Dean replacement by July 2008.

"Doris Stratmann has an extensive background in academia and we are grateful to have someone of her gifts and talents working with us," stated Sister Elizabeth A. Hill, C.S.J., J.D., President.

In addition to acting as the Assistant for Special Projects in the Office of the President, Doris Stratmann is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science. Prior to working at St. Joseph’s, she served for four years as the Dean of Faculty at Suffolk County Community College’s (SCCC) Eastern Campus. Subsequent to holding that position, she was the Assistant Dean at both the Eastern and Ammerman Campuses of SCCC. From 1981-1995, Stratmann worked in the President’s Office at SCCC, first as the Executive Assistant, and then as Deputy to the President. She earned a B.A., M.A. and ABD in Political Science, all from Fordham University.

During his three year tenure at St. Joseph’s, Dr. Krieg made several significant contributions to the College, including introducing minors in Religious Studies as well as Speech and Justice. Additionally, he influenced the expansion of the Academic Center and the Global Studies initiative on the Long Island Campus.

St. Joseph’s College is located at 155 W. Roe Blvd. in Patchogue, and is accessible via the South Service Road of Sunrise Highway, just east of Exit 52 (Waverly Ave.).
