PATCHOGUE, NY – JANUARY 25, 2008 – In recognition of the life-saving services they provide to the College and local community, St. Joseph’s College recently presented the North Patchogue Fire Department with a donation to express their immense appreciation for its continued bravery, dedication and services.
“We are grateful to the North Patchogue Fire Department for their continued services to the College and applaud them for their courage and commitment to protecting the people of this community every single day,” said President of St. Joseph’s College, Sister Elizabeth A. Hill, C.S.J., J.D.
Under the leadership of Commissioner Ernest Stoeckel, the NPFD purchased a Zoll Auto-Pulse Cardiac Support Pump with monies received from the College. This specialized, non-invasive cardiac support pump, which provides high quality CPR chest compressions to victims of sudden cardiac arrest more consistently than would be possible by traditional manual methods, ensures improved blood flow to the brain and heart, resulting in the probability of improved survival rates for cardiac arrest victims.
In 2007, the NPFD responded to 18 EMS calls and 9 Fire calls to the Long Island Campus of St. Joseph’s College. With its continued support, the Fire Department will be able to carry on their civic duty for the service and safety of its community.
