Clare Rose Playhouse Presents "Lovers And Other Strangers"
St. Joseph’s College’s Clare Rose Playhouse Presents The Hit Comedy Lovers And Other Strangers

PATCHOGUE, NY – APRIL 1, 2005 — The Clare Rose Playhouse, a community theatre located on the campus of St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue, continues its 2004-2005 season with Lovers and Other Strangers, a comedy by Renee Taylor and Joe Bologna. The show will run from April 22 through May 7, 2005. Critics had a hard time figuring out which of these four comedies about the superiority of women is funniest. The first introduces a young man who starts to seduce a lady, only to have the tables turned on him. The second involves a married couple who can’t figure out whose turn it is to commence lovemaking. The third opens in a girl’s apartment at 4:00 a.m. when her fiancé arrives to tell her he is a nervous wreck and can’t go through with the wedding. She gently leads the way back to the wedding route. In the last, a couple who have fought for over thirty years try to save their son’s marriage by confessing their own failing. A very funny and engaging comedy.

General Admission tickets cost $14 each with a reduced rate of $12 for students and senior citizens. Group rates, season subscriptions and dinner and lunch packages also are available. Shows begin at 8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings, with Sunday matinees starting at 3:00 p.m. For reservations or further information, please call the box office at (631) 654-0199.

The Clare Rose Playhouse, which serves as a major teaching facility for the College’s theatre courses, is accessible via the South Service Road of Sunrise Highway, just east of Exit 52 (Waverly Avenue) in Patchogue, on the northeast corner of the campus of St. Joseph’s College. A former cottage converted in 1985 through the generosity and guidance of the man for whom it is named, the Playhouse serves as a major teaching facility for the college’s theater courses and is a training ground for young actors. The Playhouse is the site of community theater productions of musicals, dramas, comedies, cabaret acts, musical performances, dance troupes and comedians.
